A driver has been arrested after allegedly striking a cyclist that had been hit by another vehicle moments prior.
The accident occurred on Highway 11 between Sherwood Glen and Morning Sideroad just before 1 a.m. on Sunday.
The 55-year-old cyclist was subsequently pronounced dead on scene.
In a news release issued on Thursday, police said that the driver of the first vehicle remained at the scene.
Police, however, said that investigators later learned that a second vehicle traveling southbound also struck the cyclist and fled.
On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the alleged driver of the second vehicle, Ahmad Nadi, 45, of the Town of Newmarket, was charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing death.
Police have not said whether the other driver will face any charges in connection with the collision.
